Feeling Lonely?
July 20th, 2006 by admin
For those of us who used to work in a "regular" office, the switch to a home office can be a lonely one. After all of the office gossip and the interactions with colleagues, a home office can seem downright dull.
And the isolated feelings that can come with working from home can affect your ability to work at home more effectively. If you find yourself craving personal interaction, there are some things you can do to lessen the feelings of isolation that can come with working from home:
-
Involve yourself in outside activites. Make sure that you spend some time with community groups that have shared interests. If you have children, you can start forging relationships with the parents of your children’s friends.
-
Community business networking. Joing the local small business or home business group. You can meet some interesting people and network at the same time.
-
Find online communities. These can be business networking communities or social communities. Getting to know people online while you are working from home can help you feel more connected to the "outside" world.
