You Need a Business Plan

One thing a business plan can do is keep you on track. Even if you do not plan on using your work at home business plan to get financing for a start-up, you should create one for your own benefit. A business plan can help you solidify your goals and provide you with a viable way to reach them (as well as measure your success). Your home business plan should include specific information about how you plan to go about making money, and the expenses you expect to accrue (and how you will pay for them). Additionally, a business plan can provide you with insight as to HOW you want to run your home business and WHAT you need to do to make your work from home idea work.

The U.S. Small Business Administration offers these four items to think about before writing your business plan:

  1. What service or product does your business provide and what needs does it fill?
  2. Who are the potential customers for your product or service and why will they purchase it from you?
  3. How will you reach your potential customers?
  4. Where will you get the financial resources to start your business?
