Work at home: Backup, backup, backup
I have recently had to learn a difficult lesson. I am like other people who work at home. Sometimes I give out advice on this blog, but then I do not make the concerted effort to follow through with some of my own advice. You see, I have two computers so I am not concerned about one of them failing. I did not properly back up all the material I have written and now I am paying for it. They say that when it rains, it pours, and that is certainly the case for me. First, my laptop failed, and I was not too concerned because I always had my trusty desktop. You can imagine what happened next.
The desktop failed next and it made it impossible for me to work at home. It would have been so easy for me to get a slave drive for my desktop and save my data there, but I never took the time to do it. As a result, I had to reinstall my operating system, and not only did I lose a bunch of important work, I lost some very special personal pictures. Well, I hope you can learn from my mistake.
