Work at Home: Dreams Can Come True
It’s a dream some of us have had for years. To work at home. We think it will be the answer to all our problems—no boss, no coworkers to fight with, and we’ll be able to set our own pace. However, like most other things, it’s a double-edged sword. While working from home is generally a much more pleasing environment, there are some obstacles that you might not have thought of initially.
First off, there’s still a stigma attached to those who want to work at home. Primarily, it comes from employers that still feel they’ll open a floodgate by letting people telecommute. Some think they’ll lost control over the workforce by letting people work at home.
Still, the numbers continue to rise in places like Canada where 600,000 workers telecommuted a decade ago and that number is up to over 1.5 million now.
However, it seems that people really misjudged how much we like paper. Not long ago, the pundits were calling for the end of the paper office as they said the age of the digital file was just at hand, but it seems that offices have more paper now than ever before.
