A survey from Vancouver Canada recently came out concerning those who work at home. The survey covered several different aspects of the pros and cons of working at home, and there were some surprising results. The article covered people who are employed by a company and work at home, and not those who run home based business. One man, who has worked as a financial advisor for some time has the ability to work from home, but declines to do so. Despite a forty five minute commute, he prefers to work out of his office because of the networking opportunities. One woman said that she would also rather brave the commute because she felt that she would be distracted and unmotivated if she had to work out of her house. She believes that it is healthy to be able to separate the business of work from the business of home. Some companies agree with this, and instead of allowing the employees to work from home, they provide them with laptop computers and cell phones and encourage them to use them on their commute (assuming that they are using public transportation of course). What they did not consider was that it is stressful enough taking the bus to work.
